WHAT IS A LUT?
A LUT (known as a Lookup Table) A LUT is a file that when applied can transform a range of colors in an image to another range of colors that is custom set. This creates a new look to your image right away saving you time. LUTs have been used in the film industry for many years to give movies and TV shows a unique look and feel. Many call it the cinematic look.

We have many cinematic and classic film LUT looks but we created them from scratch just for photo use. Designed for making great-looking prints or images for display.
The LUTs can be used for video as well but we have them enhanced for photographers.

Many film LUTs use a lot of a film gran look. For photos that may be printed in many sizes, this is not something you want in large amounts in your prints.

USING A LUT VS A PRESET
When you use a preset the preset is a saved set of slider changes saved at a preset. And you are limited to the program's settings for what you can do. After you apply a preset all your setting sliders are now set to reflect the preset look you applied. So any slider changes you make now affects the preset look limiting your editing at that point.
A LUT is just like your camera's profile it is applied on its own and will not affect any of your editing sliders. So after you apply a LUT you can then still use any of your editing sliders to edit the image tweaking it as you wish.
A LUT can go way beyond what a preset can do. It can also go beyond what you can even do in programs like Photoshop.
