How to Install Photography LUTs for Photo Editing

Full details coming soon for how to install LUTs for photographers. LUTs in each different program.

Installing LUTs (Look-Up Tables) for photo editing is a simple way to add professional color grading to your images. Most modern photo editors — including Adobe Lightroom, DxO PhotoLab, Photomator, and others — support LUT integration either directly or through preset conversion tools.

1. Importing into Lightroom:
Lightroom doesn’t use .CUBE LUTs directly, but you can easily convert them into Lightroom presets using Adobe Camera Raw. Once converted, they appear in your “Profile Browser” under “Profiles.” This allows you to preview and apply LUT-based looks to RAW and JPEG files with a single click.

2. Using LUTs in DxO PhotoLab:
DxO PhotoLab allows LUT import directly through its “Creative” tab. Simply open the “Color Rendering” section, choose Load LUT, and browse to your LUT folder. Once imported, you can adjust intensity to fine-tune the effect.

3. Applying LUTs in Photomator (Mac/iPad):
In Photomator, go to Adjustments → Color Adjustments → LUTs, then click Import LUT. Select your .CUBE file and it will appear as a new style in your library, ready to apply to any photo with adjustable strength.

4. For Other Editors:
Programs like Capture One, ON1 Photo RAW, Affinity Photo, and Luminar Neo also allow LUTs to be imported either through color lookup or custom profile tools. The process is typically as simple as navigating to the LUT or Profile section, clicking Import, and choosing your file.

Once installed, your LUTs can be previewed, stacked with other adjustments, and saved as reusable presets — helping you maintain a consistent style across all your photo projects.
